The Faroe Islands.

The Faroe Islands had been a bucket list location for me for several years, after I had spent some time searching for places that “felt like Iceland”. The Faroes are an absolutely beautiful group of islands, a sort of less severe Iceland, but also less developed.

In May 2024, I visited (unknowingly) during a general labor strike on the islands, and so over my three days on the islands I was unable to gas up my rental car. I had to be very judicious with my shooting locations and therefore had to cut a few of my pre-planned locations from the list. But even though I saw less than what I had intended, I really feel like I got the a lot out of the areas I did see.

The weather was pretty cloudy and rainy most of the time, but throughout the day bits of light would shine through the clouds and create these amazing skyscapes. I used this trip as a learning experience; I went into it with the intention of practicing how to shoot seascapes. Between the sea and the sky, I’m super happy with how the photos turned out.

The people in the Faroe Islands were lovely and the hikes were beautiful. It’s a little less touristy than Iceland but with a similar landscape that is an absolute joy to shoot.

In October 2025, I visited again, this time with my brother. I’d been trying to convince him to take a photo vacation with me for a long time, and we finally decided to just go and book the trip.

Weather was similarly overcast and rainy, but yet again I had an amazing trip in the Faroes. I revisited the popular Traelanipa, but otherwise explored entirely new areas. I also visited Torshavn more extensively, and would highly recommend spending some time in this amazing town.
